AB - Six new organotin(IV) complexes were synthesized by direct reaction of RSnCl3 (R= Me, Bu and Ph) or R2SnCl2 (R= Me, Bu and Ph) and vitamin K3-2-hydrazinopyridine [VHzP, (1)] in Schlenk round bottom flask under nitrogen atmosphere. All organotin(IV) complexes (2-7) have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivity, UV-Visible, IR and 1H NMR spectral studies. The organotin(IV) complexes (2-7) are non-electrolytic in nature. The crystal structure of ligand (1) has also been determined by X-ray crystallography diffraction analysis. The ligand (1) and its organotin(IV) complexes (2-7) have also been tested for their toxicity and anti-termitic potential and found to be moderately active against Artemia salina and Coptotermes sp.
