People from all age groups are learning to operate computers and anyone who has worked with computers for long periods of time knows that computers can be just as addicting as drinking every night of the week.

In the developed world, the “disease” model of mental health, which sees mental illness as physically-based and often permanent, has prevailed over the view that mental illness is based in the mind, is temporary and can be overcome.
Gabor Maté’s speech about power and addiction, it is extremely evident and clear to see how vague the word “addiction” is and how the global community today has related such a topic to a limited discourse that pertains simply to substance use and abuse.
Maté talks about the various addictions to drugs such as heroin, cocaine, methamphetamines and others throughout his video, however where I agree most with him is when he discusses the need for the substance use and abuse and what can happen as a result....

It is our decision as a society to criminalize drug addiction, rather than understand and treat those behaviours as medical and social issues, that ultimately forces both sides of the equation into an endless dehumanizing cycle of criminalized behaviour, arrest, incarceration, release, and further criminalized behaviour.
