Your plan A thesis should contribute to your field by presenting your original research or a new perspective of existing knowledge. You’ll choose the problem or subject to focus on with your major professor by the end of your second semester of graduate study. You should perform thesis research during the semester(s) you are registered for thesis credit and when faculty support is available. Theses must follow USU publication formatting standards.
For the Ph.D. program, only a minor change is made: A research seminar is added to each of the first four terms (before qualifying) as a pass/fail course. Participating in the research seminar is deemed to be highly beneficial by exposing students to the current research and work processes of international and national researchers including Bogazici University faculty members, and would allow students in the thesis stage to get more feedback on their work.
The ThM program at DTS is a full year longer than other seminaries' . Graduates continually affirm that their outreach is broader and their spiritual life is deeper because of this extra year of study and spiritual formation.
In this project, the selected candidates are expected to develop an understanding of the core ideas behind formal synthesis, learning how to describe requirements in formal language (linear temporal logics) and implement the synthesis problem in a synthesis tool, e.g. TuLiP. Thesis workers should be able to analyze the synthesized controller, simulate the results and possibly compare their solution with other existing solutions.
