Beginning in 2005, FCIC faculty have worked closely with their colleagues in the Department of Family Medicine (USF Morsani College of Medicine) to provide 3rd year medical students with innovative, interdisciplinary training about the health care needs of patients with disabilities. USF is one of a handful of medical schools to offer this training. FCIC faculty deliver lectures, participate in panel discussions, and assist in evaluating students' clinical examinations. Since Summer 2013, the disability content has been expanded and infused throughout the 3rd year as part of the Doctoring 3 class. The curriculum has also been expanded to the Doctoring 1 class. FCIC faculty provide lectures to first year students within their first six weeks in medical school. The introduction of this topic earlier in their medical school training allows more time for students to become familiar with the health issues and disparities experienced by people with developmental disabilities. An introduction to the advanced track mathematics program. Provides the core ofbasic logic, elementary set theory and a large collection of short important self-contained subjects mostly independent from each other. They come from various parts of mathematics: number theory, geometry, combinatorics, topology, optimization theory, etc. No preliminary knowledge of advanced mathematics is required. MAT 150 serves as an alternative to MAT 200 for students in the Advanced Track.
Basically, a good introduction provides the reader with a brief overview of your topic and an explanation of your thesis. A good introduction is fresh, engaging, and interesting. Successful introductions don’t rely on clichés or irrelevant information to demonstrate their point. Be brief, be concise, be engaging. Good luck.
Tip: For a nice, stylistic twist you can reuse a theme from the introduction in your conclusion. For example, you might present a particular scenario in one way in your introduction, and then return to it in your conclusion from a different – richer or contrasting – perspective.

Introductions can be tricky. Because the introduction is the first portion of your essay that the reader encounters, the stakes are fairly high for your introduction to be successful. A good introduction presents a broad overview of your topic and your thesis, and should convince the reader that it is worth their time to actually read the rest of your essay. Below are some tips that will make writing an introduction a little less daunting, and help us all to write essays that don’t make our professors want to bang their heads against the wall.
Your introduction has two main purposes: 1) to give an overview of the main points of your thesis; and 2) awaken the reader’s interest. It’s not a bad idea to go through the introduction one last time when the writing is done, to ensure that it connects well with your conclusion.
