Actual amounts available to be awarded depend on investment portfolio performance. The majority of scholarship awards are a maximum $1,000 and are awarded for one (1) academic year for both fall and spring semesters. One half of the total award is paid in the fall and the remaining half in the spring. A select number of scholarships are awarded for the summer sessions. There are a few recurring scholarships that are renewable from year-to-year based on students maintaining adherence to certain criteria, however the majority of scholarships are non-recurring.
Students are able to apply during the two (2) application periods - PHASE I Late Spring (April through mid-May) and PHASE II Early Fall (late August). After applications are received, they are evaluated and decisions made by the university's foundation scholarship committee and staff. If selected, PHASE I and PHASE II Scholarship Recipients will be notified in writing and requested to either submit their own typed and signed Thank You Letter to the Foundation and/or schedule an appointment for a "Thank You Letter Writing Session" with the ASU Writing Center in the J.D. Boyd Library at their earliest opportunity.
I love the fall, it is my favorite time of year. I don’t know if it is the childhood memories of raking and burning leaves or what, but for a month or so, the world just seems perfect to me. I even feel a strange sense of renewal in the fall, which really makes no sense since leaves are falling from trees and nature is starting to go dormant in preparation for winter. Maybe it is because I am trying to squeeze in some final outdoor activities that I feel a burst of energy.
A special message to the class of 2013: Senior year goes by so quickly. It seems like just last week that I rushed the senior steps. Start your thesis early, go into Philadelphia, watch more movies at the BMFI, go to all of the culture shows and Performing Art Series events, go to office hours to just hang out with professors/staff and attend the Fall and Spring Plenary…
