One of the biggest examples in literature is that of the fall of man reiterated from the Bible in Paradise Lost when Milton says, "Of man's first disobedience, and the fruit/Of that forbidden tree, whose mortal...

Example of an argumentative thesis statement:

At TU Delft I was required to already have some 3-4 years of programming experience and so I can say it was kinda hard for me to make the optimal choice for myself (for specialization) at first. I wasn’t even sure about the track. I was enrolled in Data Science & Technology (DST), then switched to Software technology (ST). However the track doesn’t really matter because besides the Common Core courses requirements, both tracks have exactly the same (optional) courses. I was so happy that I will finally study what I wanted to since the beginning, and I was interested almost LITERALLY in EVERYTHING, so it was really hard to choose a specialization / Research group where to continue working. So I did this based on courses I had in each of the research groups and I ended up with most interest in a particular research group (Web Science & Engineering) where I work on survey and thesis now. The WIS group is full of great professionals in the area of Web Science research and my thesis would probably be focused on data extraction and annotation for materials taken from MOOCs + building a tool to link them to wikipedia or something else. Not 100% yet, but this is the main idea.

Anyway, to get back on the topic, in Computer Science there is a requirement of each research group to either complete a seminar (5 ECTS) or a literature survey(10 ECTs). The aim of both is to sort of teach you how to research and write scientific papers in your area of interest and research and is supposed to have you dig into the main area’s problems.

STEP BY STEP APPROACH - Literature Review in Research

First, you should try to find what’s of most interest to you regarding specialization since the beginning of your studies. For example, I had no idea at first what I wanted to do. This is because I was hardly a programmer (now slightly better, but not good enough yet). The reason for that was that my background at my hometown university wasn’t Computer Science. And I can’t say I was very well prepared for what was waiting for me here in Delft. Hence I did a few mistakes. This post is mostly talking about Computer Science, but can happen with any other student as it is not dependent on the current study programme, but mainly on not being able to make up your mind on time regarding some important things.

The process of the course is straightforward: We will read significant texts from each period, analyze their content, and discuss their potential meanings, both in the context of their historical culture and our own period. We will also identify and interpret significant thematic emphases of individual works and authors, distinguish the characteristics of each period and writer, and look for both significant continuities and crucial innovations within and between writers and periods. As a way of examining the complicated relationship between literature and culture, I will frame each period according to its historical context and anchor each literary unit in a specific set of social practices--a "social code"--characteristic of that period. For the Old English period, we will examine the Heroic code; for the Middle English period, the Chivalric code; for the Renaissance, the Courtly aesthetic; for the Seventeenth century, the rise of Christian humanism; and for the Eighteenth century, Neoclassicism.
